Gen. Michael Hayden Defends The NSA Programs

Yesterday with the leak of the secret NSA data mining program by USA Today there has been a firestorm by the liberal media and the left wing nutty bloggers. This has been clearly brought up to the forefront only because of the nomination of Hayden. Once again the Bush bashers and liberals show is they will do what ever it takes to undermine this President and this war on terror.
The only thing they have done is to alert our enemies of our use of this program, and since it's known it's very obvious that this program will be far less effective. They have not made us safer by letting the world know, they have only furthered their own agenda and degraded our intelligence capabilities.
"Everything that the agency has done has been lawful. It's been briefed to the appropriate members of Congress," Hayden told reporters outside a Senate office. "The only purpose of the agency's activities is to preserve the security and the liberty of the American people.
"And I think we've done that," he said.
Now instead of doing his job, he and the President must go out and defend this legal program which doesn't even record phone conversations, all it does is collect the numbers and than analyze it for patterns that the government might be able to use to thwart another attack.
"We're 100 percent behind Michael Hayden," press secretary Tony Snow told reporters Friday. "There's no question about that, and confident that he is going to comport himself well and answer all the questions and concerns that members of the United States Senate may have in the process of confirmation."
Even most Americans including me support this program. According to the new Washington Post - ABC News poll 63 percent of Americans said they found the NSA program to be an acceptable way to investigate terrorism, including 44 percent who strongly endorsed the effort. Another 35 percent said the program was unacceptable, which included 24 percent who strongly objected to it.
I am truly confident when everything is known, this program will be vindicated and those who leaked this information will be brought to justice.

Isn't this crazy? One person who opposes it told me that he didn't oppose it happening but there should be disclosure first....Isn't that like if the police had to warn criminals that someone was wearing a bug?
