Victory Is Our Goal

Most in the drive by media and the liberal pundit talk shows talk as if we have already lost the war. That our military endeavor in Iraq has been merely a huge failure and we would be better off if we packed it up and came home right now and forget what happens in the part of the world.

Those at the top pushing for a withdrawal such as John Murtha, John Kerry and Hillary Clinton , just to name a few, feel that leaving that leaving Iraq would solve the problem, and that we are creating the violence not the terrorists.

I tell them and all who read this that we will not be safer if we leave Iraq, our enemies are attacking us there only because it's easier for them to do so, and it is far easier to go to Iraq for holy war than it is to come here.

If we left they would only follow us to our shores and attack us once again and that’s something this President has been able to prevent, but if we retreat they will see that as a sign of weakness and something that should be exploited.

Yesterday, President Bush said,” I’m inclined to believe that we do need to increase our troops — the Army, the Marines," and he went on to say. "And I talked about this to Secretary Gates and he is going to spend some time talking to the folks in the building, come back with a recommendation to me about how to proceed forward on this idea."

Now by military standards Iraq has been our greatest victory, since the beginning of the invasion we have only lost some 3000 soldiers, compare that to any other war over the same amount of time and you will see what I mean.

In World War I (1917-18) we lost 116,708 soldiers, 407,316 in World War II (1941-45), 36,516 in Korea (1950-53), and 58,167 in Vietnam (1965-73).

There is death and sacrifice in war; those who sign up are doing so with that knowledge, they know what could happen and that they could go to war.

Those who flee to Canada are traitors and should be shot on site for they sign on the dotted line knowing that there could be a chance that they could go to war and when you sign you give up that right to decide for yourself where and when you fight.

There was never a time when President Bush said this was going to be quick and easy, he has said over and over that this was going to be a very long and hard and it would take a great commitment with much resolve.

Bush and has been talking about our problem in Iraq and he said, "I need to talk to him when he gets back," the president said. "I've got more consultations to do with the national security team, which will be consulting with other folks. And I'm going to take my time to make sure that the policy, when it comes out, the American people will see that we ... have got a new way forward."

Leaving now would only provoke more attacks and show our enemies that we can be defeated by cowards in dirty bed sheets, that we as Americans don’t have the stomach to fight it out.

We will most likely have permanent military bases in Iraq, which will help us and our allies in the long run and that will require a commitment of troops.

Right now we have 70,000 troops in Germany, 45,000 in Japan and 29,500 in Korea.

We are in this for the long haul and people need to start getting used to it.

We have enemies and they want to kill us, they do not care if we are Republican or Democrat, liberal or conservative, they want us dead, they want to cut off our heads as they pray to their god.

We can not falter and we must not fail, for if we do this will be a war that our children will be fighting.
